Paramount Fine Foods on Robson Street has shut down after seven years in business.

Paramount Fine Foods has closed its only location in B.C. which was in Downtown Vancouver.

Based in Toronto with locations in Canada, England, and the Middle East, Paramount specializes in "fresh and healthy flavours of the Middle East" according to their social media posts, with dishes like hummus, kafta (skewered beef) and falafels on their menus. They have a focus on Lebanese foods.

The Vancouver location, at 560 Robson St., was the 54th location of the chain when it opened back in the spring of 2017.

While it's still on their location map, the windows are papered over. City documents show its "gone out of business" paperwork was made official on June 3.

A new, similar, restaurant appears to be opening in the same location in the future. While no signs are up, a business licence for the location shows a restaurant called Jerusalem Shawarma is incoming.

It's unclear if the incoming concept is connected to other businesses with similar names; there's a chain called Jerusalem Shawarma in Calgary, as well as a Jerusalem Grill and Shawarma in Surrey and Langley.
