Here's where to raise a glass to celebrate Negroni Week in Vancouver

Gin + Vermouth + Campari = A beloved Italian drink you can sip at local restaurants and bars (and support great causes, too)

Some Vancouver restaurants offer Negronis by the bottle, including at Kitchen Table's DiBeppe and Pizzeria Farina.

It's time to raise your glass in celebration of one of the world's most beloved cocktails, as bars and restaurants mix things up for a good cause for the return of  Negroni Week.

The elegant aperitif is traditionally made with one part gin, one part vermouth rosso, and one part Campari, and is garnished with orange peel.

However, for Negroni Week, participating venues offer up their own renditions, available to customers with proceeds going to a charity of choice. This year, Negroni Week will be celebrated from Sept. 13 through 19.

In Vancouver, several popular restaurants and bars are slated to take part. Not every venue has shared the details of its Negroni Week concoction - or concoctions - but we do know so far that some places are pulling out all the stops. For example, at H Tasting Lounge at the Westin Bayshore they'll be raising funds for Slow Food International through an engaging "roll of the dice" game and eight kinds of Negroni cocktails. A $2 donation gets you one roll, and what number comes up dictates which drink you might get, and what you'll be paying - though the house might also have to open its wallet for an additional donation.

Some participating Vancouver venues are already Negroni masters, whether the drink is served bottled, on tap, or with a house recipe on the spot.

Negroni Week began in 2013 with just a few dozen participating venues and has since grown to numerous countries around the globe, and thousands of places to belly up to the bar and sip a Negroni for a special cause.

Last year, Negroni Week festivities were virtual, with fans of the Italian drink asked to raise a glass at home. This year, Negroni lovers are urged to visit bars and restaurants in their cities while being mindful to adhere to local regulations in place regarding COVID-19 safety. In B.C., guests will need to wear face masks while indoors and not seated and will need to have their B.C. vaccine passports checked.

Here are the Vancouver bars and restaurants taking part in Negroni Week 2021. More venues may be added as Negroni Week approaches.
