Indigenous-owned restaurant Salmon n' Bannock is opening a new location at Vancouver International Airport.

Travellers at Vancouver International Airport will soon be able to get a taste of authentic Indigenous cuisine.

Salmon n’ Bannock, Vancouver’s only Indigenous-owned restaurant with staff proudly representing various First Nations across the country, is planning to open a new location at YVR early this spring.

The restaurant told the Richmond News that the new food court location, Salmon n’ Bannock On The Fly, will be located in the International Departures area after duty-free, near Starbucks.

Guests can expect, for example, the restaurant’s Pow Wow salad, smoked sockeye burger on bannock, hot bison sandwich, candied salmon, and bannock, as well as breakfast items.

The new location will also be licensed.

Salmon n’ Bannock was founded in Vancouver in 2010 to provide a gathering space where the focus is on people and food.

All game meats served by the restaurant are organic and free range, while its seafood and fish are wild, caught off the coast of B.C., according to Salmon n’ Bannock’s website.

The restaurant also prioritizes Indigenous suppliers for its ingredients and sources locally first, from Canada second and, otherwise, from Turtle Island (North America).
