Watch: Peek inside this Vancouver bakery's exciting new location before it opens

It's been three years in the making, and now the doors are finally about to open at Small Victory's newest - and biggest - location.

It's been three years in the making, and now the doors can finally open at Small Victory's newest - and biggest - location.

The Vancouver-based bakery business will start serving customers from its cafe and production bakery in Mount Pleasant at 388 W 6th Ave on Oct. 5, 2023.

Small Victory purchased the massive 7,000-square-foot facility and retail space back in 2020. The space Small Victory now occupies, on the south side of the building, is one that reflects a changing tide in Vancouver neighbourhoods; The Yukon stands on the site of what had been 3 Vets, which closed in Dec. 2017 after 70 years in business.

“We had planned to expand our business to meet the fast-growing demand from our customers. After the pandemic emerged, we reassessed our business needs and concluded that demand was still growing and that a new physical store and production facility was needed to help safely meet demand and provide our customers access to our freshly baked products," Qasim Nathoo, Business Development Manager at Small Victory Bakery, told V.I.A. in an email in October 2020.

Known for their always-stunning baked goods alongside a comprehensive coffee program, with breakfast and lunch dishes - and cakes and pies, too - Small Victory established themselves in Yaletown before adding a second location in South Granville. In the interim since announcing the addition of the Mount Pleasant location to its roster, Small Victory also launched a bakery-cafe at the Amazing Brentwood in Burnaby

What you'll find at Small Victory's Mount Pleasant location

For its fourth outpost, Small Victory will be using the space to serve its other locations, train its bakers, and test out products and menu items. It's also a great opportunity for guests to take a peek at the production side of the business, with a clear view into many of the facility's work spaces.

On the menu are sweet and savoury items. The Mount Pleasant cafe will be where you can find Small Victory's expanding bread program showcased, with everything from baguettes and seasonal loaves to a softer milk bread to up your at-home sandwich game. In addition to the beautiful European-style sweet treats, you will find an array of baked goods in the case as well as cafe dishes like avocado toast and sandwiches. Keep an eye out for new dishes being tested out here at this commissary location.

You'll also find a full coffee program at Small Victory, with drip coffee, espresso beverages and tea drinks. Look for seasonal beverage features as well; for fall, they're making Biscoff cookie lattes and pumpkin spice lattes to warm you up.

The idea behind Small Victory remains to give the community a welcoming space perfect for gathering to celebrate life's small victories, and this bright, modern, airy (and treat-filled) new space fits the bill perfectly.
