A project two years in the making, a new French-Indian restaurant from the team behind Kitsilano's The Ellis is soon to make its debut on the other side of town.
Prep for Peya is nearly complete and is expected to open this month at 2101 E Hastings St.
Co-owner Kevin Day told V.I.A. by email earlier this year that the chef and business partner from The Ellis, Ashwani Dabas, will lead the kitchen team at Peya. Dabas will be joined by bar manager Chris Enns.
The location is a new build, and Peya occupies the 2,141 square foot corner space. Refine & Design did the interiors.
Peya's next-door neighbour is Innocent Ice Cream; the treat shop relocated to 2103 E Hastings St after departing its original Main Street store a couple of years ago.
Not many details have been shared publicly so far about Peya, though they have been teasing the concept on the new restaurant's social media (@peyayvr on Instagram) for the past three months.
V.I.A. has reached back out to Day to learn more about Peya as opening nears and will update when more information is available.
