A duo of long-standing Granville Island businesses have teamed up for a fun pop-up event that celebrates a favourite summery flavour.

Granville Island Brewing has launched a new Peach Sour brew, and now the trailblazing Vancouver brewer (turned major player) is collaborating with a neighbour for something truly delicious: Doughnuts!

Lee's Donuts, which has been serving up its golden-fried treats since the late 70s, has created a limited edition Peach Crumble doughnut inspired by GIB's summertime Peach Sour brew.

GIB says the new beer is a golden gose-style sour with sweet, tangy, tart notes.

The two businesses are holding a COVID-safe 10-day pop-up tasting event in Gastown running May 14 through 24 at 45 Water Street. The event is open to the public (19+) from noon to 8 p.m. but online booking is required in order to keep the venue within public health guidelines for capacity.

There you can taste the beer and doughnut, and even jam along to a special peach-themed playlist curated for the event. Organizers promise "a multi-sensory experience that will have your taste buds singing 'Peaches' by Justin Bieber."

Admission is free, but advance online reservations are required. Guests are encouraged to give back upon entry to the event via the Can-for-a-Can donation where one canned food item can be exchanged for a can of Peach Sour to take home or by texting a peach emoji 🍑 to 30333 to donate $5 to the Vancouver Food Bank.

For those interested in picking up the Peach Sour beer at the store, it will be available across the province at multiple retail outposts, among them BC Liquor Stores and JAK's locations in Vancouver.
