Leave it to The Pie Hole, one of Vancouver's most-loved pie shops, to have customers smiling before they even walk in the door. First, there's the smell of fresh-baked pies wafting from the door - hello awesome. Then there's the neon "Stuff your pie hole" on the shop wall, and a cheeky window sign that says "The Pie Hole is SHUT," that's sure to make you grin. All this before you've even lifted a fork!

Now the "SHUT" sign finally is getting to switched to "OPEN" on the daily since their Kitsilano location is ready for the public.

Owner Jenell Parsons took over the former Khats’ Market and Juicery at 1864 West 4th Ave in February, and made quick work remodelling the space to create a bright, vintage diner-inspired space perfect for dine-in or take-out pies, coffee, and, soon, classes and workshops. The location quietly opened on May 14.

Oh, and since I mentioned "diner," I can also note that The Pie Hole has been featured on the U.S. Food Network's long-running series Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. The episode has already aired in the States, and will make it to Canadian airwaves soon.

While "Triple D" host Guy Fieri tucked into just a couple of The Pie Hole's impressive offerings, including their Raspberry Cream Crumble, in the case at the new Kits location is an array of specialty fruit, cream, and savoury pies, as well as handpies, all featuring The Pie Hole's signature Double Butter crust.

You can grab a slice of Strawberry Rhubarb and a freshly-brewed coffee or espresso drink and sit down at the new location, or get a whole pie or some slices to go, too. Sign up for their newsletter to find out when classes will be offered; I've checked out one at their Burnaby shop, and it's lots of fun (and tasty, too!).

Kitsilano marks the third location for The Pie Hole, whose OG shop is on Fraser St. in Vancouver, and their second on 6th on the Burnaby-New West border. The Kits location is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
