New sweet shop in downtown Vancouver could be 'the biggest candy store in B.C.'

It's going to be right on the Granville strip

Ricardo's Kandy Korner in White Rock is already one of the biggest candy stores in B.C.

The Granville strip will be a little sweeter this summer.

That's when Karmuddin "Ricardo" Rizaie is opening up the second Ricardo's Kandy Korner. His White Rock location is already one of the biggest sweet shops in the province, and he says the new one "will be the biggest candy store in B.C." at over 1,500 square feet.

"It's going to be about double the size of the White Rock one," Rizaie says. "We're going way bigger and grander for everything."

The local entrepreneur will be stocking the new store with over 450 different bulk candies along with sweets from around the world. There will also be beverages from the U.S., UK and Europe, he adds.

"There'll be sugar-free, vegan, and bulk chocolate," he says. "Anything you can think of in candy or chocolate in bulk."

The hope is for the shop, located in a former souvenir store at 752 Granville St., to open in a month or two.

"We're pushing to open by late June," Rizaie says. "If not late June then early July."

He's already had success with a series of shops in White Rock, but this is his first foray into Vancouver.

"I'm excited to showcase to all of B.C. what we're about," he says.
