Vancouver’s culinary and fundraising event of the year, the 50 Years. 50 Chefs. Gala takes place on Tuesday, November 17th at the Rocky Mountaineer Train Station with over 50 top chefs participating. In celebration of Vancouver Community College's milestone 50th Anniversary, this once in a life time gala presents an evening of fabulous food, wine, music, fashion and more to support the VCC Foundation.

A who’s who of the city's best chefs are participating including Ned Bell (Four Seasons Hotel),  Quang Dang (West Restaurant), Dave Gunawan (Farmer’s Apprentice), David Hawksworth (Hawksworth Restaurant), Scott Jaegar (the Pear Tree Restaurant), Pino Posteraro (Cioppino’s), and David Robertson (The Dirty Apron Cooking School). “You will likely find a VCC culinary or baking alumnus in almost every food establishment in Vancouver—from the convention centre to restaurants, hotels and resorts, to bistros and food trucks,” says Nancy Nesbitt, executive director of the VCC Foundation. “Our 50 Years. 50 Chefs. gala is not only a celebration of our talented alumni and dedicated instructors who helped build Vancouver’s food scene, but everyone who has had a connection to VCC.”

The theme of the Gala is 1965, the opening year of Vancouver Community College. For car and Instagram enthusiasts, VCC’s auto collision and refinishing program students will excitedly be unveiling a fully restored 1965 Daytona. Guests at the gala will have the opportunity to have their photos taken with this legendary car. At 8:45pm guests will be treated to a fashion show “Eight Days A Week” a salute to the famed Beatles song which was released in 1965. Presented by the VCC fashion students, the fashion show will feature the swinging designs of the 1960’s as well as a dance performance. Thru-out the evening guests will enjoy music from a specially assembled band of VCC alumni, instructors and supporters including Laurence Mollenup, Bernie Arai, Daryl Jahnke, Bill Sample and Karen Graves.

A wine and grazing event, guests will have the opportunity to visit 15 culinary stations alongside   wine-tastings from the Naramata Bench Wineries Association with over 20 wineries participating. Dine on tapas dishes such as smoked salmon blini with dill cream, duck croquettes,  pacific octopus, braised bison short ribs, pork belly with caramelized apple cider, sushi and much more as Vancouver’s top chefs fight to outshine each other. The evening concludes with the not to be missed dessert station headed by David Hawksworth and the gala baking team including Jeremy Inglett, Food Gays, Leanne Bently, Fairmont Waterfront, Cassandra Crocco, Duft & Co. Bakehouse and VCC’s own Nancy McRae. A sampling of delights that will be showcased include French macarons, salted milk truffles, chocolate ganache and tartlettes of both passion fruit and coffee caramal.

Splurge- this magical evening showcases the very best of Vancouver Community College. Funds raised go to the VCC Foundation to provide scholarship and training for both current and future VCC students. Enjoy an evening of fabulous food, wine and fashion and show your support for Vancouver Community College.

Tickets: $300.00 with a tax receipt available for part of fee.
