The slow lane for eastbound through traffic on Highway 1 and fast lane for traffic heading in to Surrey are both shut down.

An early morning collision has reduced lanes on Surrey's Port Mann Bridge, the latest in a string of traffic woes on the Fraser River span.

Surrey RCMP say about 2:20 a.m. a single-vehicle collision on the bridge saw an eastbound vehicle strike the centre barrier.

Damage to the barrier resulted in two lanes of travel needing to be shut down, pending repairs.

The slow lane for eastbound through traffic on Highway 1 and fast lane for traffic heading in to Surrey are both shut down.

The closure is expected to cause congestion on this morning's commute.

The crash follows a closure that included other Lower Mainland bridges on Friday due to the danger of falling snow and ice from bridge cables in the wake of a winter storm going into the Christmas weekend.

That was followed by flooding from rain and melting snow on Saturday that swamped bridge on ramps.
