Driver killed in single-vehicle crash in West Vancouver

Police say the driver left the road and crashed into a tree before the vehicle caught fire

One person is dead following a single-vehicle crash in West Vancouver.

According to police, the collision happened at about 12:10 p.m. at the corner of Pound Road and Marine Drive.

“While we are in the early stages of the investigation, current evidence suggests that the vehicle was travelling east on Pound Road when it left the roadway before hitting a tree and catching fire,” a press release from the West Vancouver Police Department stated, Tuesday afternoon. “Tragically, the lone occupant of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.”

The Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) has been called in for the investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or may have captured dashcam footage from that area at that time is asked to contact the West Vancouver Police Department.

“The West Vancouver Police Department extends our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased and all those impacted by this unfortunate event. We encourage anyone who witnessed this incident and is struggling to reach out to WVPD Victim Services at 604-925-7468.”
