IHIT connects Richmond homicide to Lower Mainland shootings

Death of two brothers in a March 2021 fire was preceded by shots fired in December 2020: IHIT.

The homicide of two brothers in Richmond was linked to multiple Lower Mainland shootings, according to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT).

The Richmond News previously reported the bodies of brothers Chaten Dhindsa, 25, and Joban Dhindsa, 23, were found following a house fire on Rathburn and Chaldecott drives in the Hamilton neighbourhood on on Mar. 19, 2021.

The Dhindsas were Richmond residents and their deaths were deemed a homicide.

According to IHIT's release on Tuesday morning, investigations have revealed the brothers' deaths were linked to a series of shootings throughout the Lower Mainland.

In particular, shots fired on No. 3 Road between Alderbridge Way and Cambie Road on Dec. 3, 2020, were said to be "a precursor" to the homicide. Three suspect vehicles, a black Volkswagen Jetta, a silver Audi and a black Range Rover, were identified.

“These are complex investigations that go far beyond a single shooting,” said IHIT's Sgt. Timothy Pierotti.

“I commend the investigative team and forensic experts that continue to work relentlessly as information continues to come in.”
