'Incredibly concerning': Abbotsford police warn public about stabbing

A woman is expected to make a full recovery after being stabbed early Thursday morning in Abbotsford.

A woman is recovering in hospital after she was stabbed and police want to alert the public of the incident. 

A 37-year-old woman was found by police in medical distress near Gladwin Road and South Fraser Way on Thursday at 2:38 a.m. 

The woman had been stabbed and was transported to hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries. 

Sgt. Paul Walker with the Abbotsford Police Department says it’s unclear if the stabbing was targeted or random.

"This incident involving a violent crime within our community is incredibly concerning to us,” says Walker.

The woman is expected to make a full recovery. Police say she's in stable condition. 

"Officers are working around the clock to identify a suspect and understand the events leading up to this incident. Our frontline officers continue to conduct proactive patrols along the South Fraser Way corridor to ensure public safety within this area,” says Walker.

Anyone who has dash camera footage or saw anything suspicious while travelling in the area prior to, or after, the incident is being asked to contact police at 604-859-5225.
