Richmond synchro swimmers recognized by BC Artistic Swimming

A cherry on top for Pacific Wave Synchronized Swim Club's spectacular season.

A Richmond artistic swimming club wrapped up a successful season with an armful of awards from BC Artistic Swimming.

Pacific Wave Synchronized Swim Club (PWS) took home four out of the 10 available 2021-2022 BC Artistic Swimming awards, including the 2022 Donalda Smith Excellence Bursary.

Athletes Abereena Xu and Chiu Tung (Lucy) Zhou won the National Team of the Year and Zhou also won National Stream Athlete of the Year.

Xu and Zhou represented the province at SYNC 2022 in Edmonton this summer and won bronze in the 13 to 15 age category duet. The duo also excelled separately and achieved impressive rankings at the Canadian Championships in May.

Meanwhile, Keily Hutt and coach Meng Chen are this year's recipients of the Donalda Smith Excellence Bursary, and Hutt was named top 20 Canadian prospect for the junior national team.

Chen was also chosen as the 2022 BC Artistic Swimming National Stream Coach of the Year.
