Police have made an arrest in the May 2022 homicide of Michael Brown in Surrey.

On Tuesday, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) announced a second-degree murder charge against Bradley Minchin.

On May 21, 2022, just before 10 a.m., Surrey RCMP responded to shots fired in the 13700-block Grosvenor Road. When officers arrived at the Whalley location, they found a man, later identified as Brown, suffering from serious injuries.

Brown was taken to hospital but died May 25 as a result of his injuries.

After an extensive three-month investigation, IHIT investigators identified Minchin as a suspect. Minchin was arrested with the assistance of the Vancouver Police Department (VPD).

IHIT spokesman Sgt. Timothy Pierotti cited cooperative work between Surrey RCMP and the VPD as a factor in the arrest.

“The work doesn’t end here and while the matter is currently before the court, IHIT will speak with any further witnesses who come forward or who are identified,” Pierotti said.

IHIT can be reached by calling 1-877-551-4448 or by emailing [email protected].

At the time of the shooting, Surrey RCMP said initial indications were that it was an isolated incident.
