Update: One in critical condition after car crashes into Richmond hot dog shop

Roads are now re-opened after the crash at No. 3 Road and Westminster Highway, police report.

One person has been sent to the hospital in critical condition after a crash in Richmond city centre on Friday morning.

Photos circulating on social media show a Tesla, with an "N" sign displayed, inside Richmond's Chung Chun Rice Hotdog store on Westminster Highway and No. 3 Road.

A spokesperson for BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) told the Richmond News they received a call about the accident just before 11 a.m. on Oct 27.

"Paramedics cared for one patient who was transported to hospital in critical condition," said BCEHS.

In a video submitted by Reddit user kirsteenieweenie, Richmond RCMP cruisers and firetrucks are at the scene.

Two ambulances including an advanced life support unit were also present.

All eastbound lanes on Westminster Highway from No. 3 Road were closed for about four and a half hours and reopened just after 4:10 p.m.

Northbound No. 3 Road traffic is backed up to Granville Avenue while southbound traffic is backed up to about Leslie Road.

Eastbound and westbound Westminster Highway traffic is heavy between Buswell Street and Minoru Boulevard.

Richmond News has reached out to Richmond RCMP for more information.
