BC athletes returning from London with 50% of the medals won by Team Canada!

Almost three months ago to the day we BROUGHT YOU Canadian Olympic athlete, Ryan Cochrane (from BC), in his Tom's shoes delivering a talk at Creekside Community Centre In The Village and bid him good luck as he headed to London 2012.

Almost three months ago to the day we BROUGHT YOU Canadian Olympic athlete, Ryan Cochrane (from BC), in his Tom's shoes delivering a talk at Creekside Community Centre In The Village and bid him good luck as he headed to London 2012. Ryan one-upped his performance in the 2008 Beijing Olympics (where he won bronze in 1,500 m freestyle swimming) by bringing home silver!

BC sent 110 athletes to London 2012 to compete in 22 sports and B.C.’s medal winners were (in chronological order of achievement):

- Christine Girard, White Rock (Rouyn-Norand, Que.) – weighlifting – women’s 63-kg – bronze.

- Men’s eight rowing team – silver.

- Brent Hayden, Vancouver (Mission) – swimming – men’s 100-metre freestyle – bronze.

- Women’s eight rowing team – silver.

- Ryan Cochrane, Victoria – swimming – men’s 1,500-metre freestyle – silver.

- Women’s team pursuit – cycling, track – bronze.

- Carol Huynh, Hazelton – wrestling – women’s 48-kg freestyle – bronze.

- Women’s soccer team – bronze.

- Richard Weinberger, Victoria (Surrey) – swimming – open water 10-km – bronze.
