Thirty years on, how do you remember Expo86?

Vancouver Is Awesome has partnered with the Pendulum Gallery in search of the untold stories of Expo86. 2016 marks the 30th Anniversary of this defining event from Vancouver's recent past. We are currently seeking images from the public who attended the expo.

Do you have a gem of a photo of you and your brother in acid-washed jeans and fluorescent headbands that you are dying to share with the world? Now is your chance!

What does it mean to each of us?

How did it affect our lives?

What do you remember the most about the fair?

Were there pivotal life-changing moments, silly memories, or do you even remember Expo86?

We want to move beyond the typical idyllic postcard photos of the pavilions, city backdrops, and official documentation of the fair.  We want interesting, quirky, if not downright magical shots that come with a great story. If you have some photos you would like to send along, please do!

Please send no more than 5 images max.

Limit individual jpg image files to under 5MB.

If sending multiple large files, please send individually in separate emails.

Email your images to: Sunshine Frere at expo86pendulum@gmail.com. Please include contact name, phone number and email where you can be reached. Images must be received by April 15, 2016

Contact Sunshine Frere at sunshinefrere@yahoo.ca / 604.362.2484 or Chris Keatley chriskeatley@shaw.ca / 604.250.9682 for further information

The images will be displayed as part of a web-based project and our curatorial team will select 40 images to be exhibited at the Pendulum Gallery in Spring/Summer of this year. If your photo is selected for inclusion in the exhibition, a higher quality version for printing purposes may be required. You will be contacted if this is the case.

If you have an interesting story you would like to share, this can also be emailed to: expo86pendulum@gmail.com. We ask that stories are no longer than 500 words.
