Photo: An aerial shot of Richmond...from 1931

Back in the day when there were no high rises and no major structures, for that matter
This shot was taken over the early Vancouver Airport in 1931

Where was this lovely aerial shot taken, you might ask?

Well, it was, in fact, Richmond – way back in 1931.

Note the absence of any high rises or any major structures for that matter.

The photo was taken over “Vancouver Civic Airport on Sea Island,” as it was called back then.

And if you look to the far side of the Fraser River, you can see Lansdowne Park Racetrack to the left and Brighouse Park Racetrack to the right.

Incredible to think that Richmond had not one, but two, racetracks back in the day.
