The topic of ride sharing has been a hot one today as it looks like Uber might be getting a shake at the Vancouver market sooner than later. I thought it would be timely to share this photo from the City of Vancouver Archives of a dude piloting (driving?) a horse-drawn lumber wagon at the corner of Hastings and Cambie in the year 1888. There likely weren't any regulations stopping him from charging that chap on the right a few pennies to jump on the back and catch a ride down to wherever the heck he was dropping that wood off at! Brewery Creek perhaps?
