The City of Vancouver Archives has announced the release of over 5,000 archival photos that were recently digitized.

The images are from commercial photographer Don Coltman, a World War I veteran who took up photography after leaving the army.

Coltman took over the Steffens-Colmer photography studio in 1944, and the collection mostly showcases post-WWII Vancouver.

The subjects include industry, small business, sports and community activities, buildings, streetscapes, portraiture, and our natural environment. They are all now in the public domain, meaning anyone can use them for any purpose.

Have a look through the images (and 10,000+ others from the same collection, which were previously digitized) at the Vancouver Archives website.
