Monstercat will be holding a free block party on Sept. 18 in downtown Vancouver.

With things starting to open up, a music festival will be returning to downtown Vancouver this September.

Monstercat's Compound festival will be taking place Sept. 18. The independent electronica label is hosting the two-stage festival outside their headquarters near Gastown.

Along with the music the free event will feature art, video games and other activities.

"Taking place at Monstercat HQ in Railtown, Compound is the only music festival currently approved on Vancouver city property," states the label in a press release.

Artists on stage will include Vancouver's The Funk Hunters, Tony Romero (a producer from Lyon, France) and Thailand-born but Vancouver-based Sabai.

“We are thrilled to bring back Compound for its fourth year with brand new experiences and our biggest lineup yet,” says Monstercat spokesperson Jess Mitchell in a press release. “After taking last year off, we’re looking forward to safely reuniting with our Vancouver community and showcasing incredible talent across music, art, tech, and education."

There'll also be food trucks and a beer garden.

The festival will be running from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 380 Railway St. It's free, but RSVPing is needed. Those 19 and older can purchase a premium pass, with some perks.
