That’s a charcoal BBQ right there. Don’t do it. Photo Shutterstock
The Vancouver Park Board has just implemented a ban on charcoal BBQs in Stanley Park, English Bay and Sunset Beach parks.
Citing a high danger of fires, they're saying that propane BBQs are fine just as long as the cooker is 12 inches off the ground. They're also reminding the public that smoking is prohibited in all parks, all the time, and that rangers will be out enforcing.
If you're thinking of maybe heading across the bridge to Cates Park or others parks on the North Shore with your briquettes, think again! They've also got a ban on charcoal BBQs happening.
The current fire hazard rating is high to extreme! Currently there are no fires, no briquettes and no smoking allowed in any ?@NVanDistrict? parks or trails. #BCWildfires #safety pic.twitter.com/60kdnkGiCf
