Burnaby close to counting weekly COVID-19 cases on two hands

Burnaby's rate of new COVID-19 infections continues to drop. 

According to the latest Geographic Distribution of COVID-19 by Local Health Area of Case Residence, the area saw just 18 cases from June 13 to 19, 2021. 

The data is released by the BC Centre for Disease Control.

During the previous reporting period for June 6 to 12, 2021, Burnaby recorded 44 cases. 

Surrey continues to be the hotspot in the Fraser Health region, seeing 71 cases from June 13 to 19. 

Another set of  BCCDC data released yesterday shows two Burnaby quadrants now have a 0% positivity rate as provincial numbers continue a rapid downward trend. 

According to the latest COVID-19 surveillance report, Burnaby Southeast and Northwest both have positivity rates of 0%. 

Burnaby's latest regional numbers for June 15 to 21 are as follows. Case rates are new cases per 100,000 people by local health area and community health service area.

BURNABY NORTHWEST

  • Vaccination percentage of those 12 years and older: 82%
  • Vaccination percentage of those 18 years and older: 82%

BURNABY NORTHEAST

  • Case rate: 1
  • Positivity rate: 1%
  • Vaccination percentage of those 12 years and older: 80%
  • Vaccination percentage of those 18 years and older: 80%

BURNABY SOUTHWEST

  • Case rate: 2
  • Positivity rate: 1%
  • Vaccination percentage of those 12 years and older: 77%
  • Vaccination percentage of those 18 years and older: 78%

BURNABY SOUTHEAST
