The big screen at CN Centre told the tale last Friday as the Prince George Cougars eliminated the Kelowna Rockets from the WHL playoffs. The Cats hope to project a similar celebratory handshake scene next week for fans attending the watch party when the Cougars head to Portland to play the Winterhawks in the WHL Western Conference final.

The Cougar watch is on.

Fans are being invited to come out and watch the Cougars on the big screen at CN Centre when they play the Portland Winterhawks on the road next week in Portland in the battle for the WHL Western Conference playoff title.

The watch party for Game 3 on Monday starts at 7 p.m.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

The entry fee is $4 per person. Each ticket is for general admission seating.

"We did some polling on social media and it's hard to know if enough people will come or not but the response was strong enough it seems to indicate people will want to come," said the city's CN Centre and entertainment manager, Glen Mikkelsen.

"There's an appreciation that families can come. The various pubs (showing the game) are not quite suitable for families."

The CN Centre concession and bars will be open during the game and fans will be eligible for prizes.

Game 4 will follow on Wednesday at the same time, and if Game 5 is needed that will be played in Portland on Thursday.

Tickets for the Round 3 three watch parties go on sale today at 2 p.m. at the CN Centre box office or online through www.ticketsnorth.ca/.

Fans are being encouraged to wear their Cougar gear and bring white cheer towels.
