Video: Adorable deer runs through traffic on busy Vancouver street

It ran through the grounds of a hospital and into traffic.
A deer ran through Vancouver General Hospital's grounds and across 12th Avenue on June 5, 2022. People phone the BC Conservation Officer Service.

A deer was spotted running through Vancouver General Hospital's grounds and across a busy street late Sunday afternoon.

The herbivore was spotted on June 5 darting through several busy streets in the Fairview neighbourhood. While it is unclear exactly where it came from, one thing is clear: the swift traveller made an impression on almost everyone who saw it.

Several people phoned the rare sighting into the BC Conservation Officer Service (BCCOS) as the hoofed creature darted through the urban centre.

Vancouver Is Awesome recorded the deer just before 4 p.m. running across West 12th Avenue and into a small park.

This isn't the first time a deer has made an appearance in the city centre. In 2019, a doe made an unusual trek from Commercial Drive to an alleyway in Gastown. And in 2021, a young buck was recorded in Gastown

V.I.A. has contacted the BCCOS and will provide an update.
