Delta police remove a dozen impaired drivers from area roads

“Of note, a significant number of these were called in to 9-1-1 by the public,” said DPD. “If you believe that someone is impaired and driving, please take the steps to call 9-1-1 and let us know.”

Delta police are reporting, what they describe, as a “scary one on the roads” with 12 impaired drivers removed by DPD.

According to police in a post on their Facebook page, out of the 12 drivers: two were impaired by drugs while driving; six were given 90-day immediate roadside prohibitions, meaning that their blood alcohol content was equal to or greater than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood; one driver was stopped by police after the officer saw them driving southbound in a northbound lane; one driver was seen drinking beer in the driver's seat of their car, and when police arrived, there was also open bottle of wine in the centre console, and one driver was found passed out behind the wheel of their vehicle at 56th Street and Highway 17. When police arrived, they banged on the windows and the driver was unresponsive. When they finally did 'come to', they were disoriented and unaware of police presence. Needless to say, this driver blew a fail, was served a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition, and had their car impounded.
