The Vancouver Police Department faced a variety of violent incidents this weekend.

One man has been charged in a stabbing that occurred earlier this month near Oppenheimer Park.

A 55-year-old man walking along East Cordova Street near Jackson Avenue was assaulted and stabbed on Sept. 10, according to police. He was able to call 911 for help after the suspect left the scene, walking away.

The victim was left with serious and life-altering injuries, according to the VPD.

Vancouver police investigated and arrested a man who is currently in custody.

Last week the BC Prosecution Service approved one charge of aggravated assault against Dennis Prasad, 43.
