Vancouver Police say woman in 'dragging' incident may have walked between van and trailer

VPD state that new evidence indicates that the woman walked in between the trailer and vehicle while it was stopped in the Vancouver 'dragging' incident.

Over Thanksgiving long weekend, Vancouver Police reported that a young woman was struck by a vehicle and dragged several blocks in the Downtown Eastside.

Now, VPD state that new evidence indicates that the woman walked in between the trailer and vehicle while it was stopped. However, the investigation is still ongoing and therefore no conclusions have been made.

"We can confirm that new evidence indicates the victim walked between the van and cargo trailer as it was stopped in traffic," wrote Sergeant Aaron Roed, Media Relations Officer, VPD, in an email.

"For privacy reasons, and out of respect to all parties involved, we will not confirm any personal details about the parties involved."

GoFundMe page has been started that has already raised $178,625 out of a goal of $1 million to help the victim. Desiree Evancio, 24, has already undergone multiple surgeries and was set to have facial reconstruction surgery last week.

A Vancouver pub will also host be hosting a football fundraiser this Sunday to raise money.
