If you feel a breeze outside now, it's likely to get stronger as the day goes on warns Environment Canada.
The federal agency has issued a wind warning for the Metro Vancouver area as winds of 70 km/h are expected with gusts up to 90 km/h.
"An intense Pacific cold front will move across the south coast this afternoon. Strong southerly winds this morning will shift to strong northwest this afternoon in the wake of the front," states the agency.
Winds will be strongest at the shore.
The warning reminds people to secure items outside. With winds this strong roof shingles may be blown off, buildings can be damaged by debris and the power may go out. BC Hydro is already reporting outages in West Vancouver and North Vancouver.
"Winds will ease later tonight as a ridge of high pressure builds over the region," states Environment Canada.
Meanwhile, there's a snowfall warning for the Coquihalla today, wind warnings for parts of the interior and a "flash freeze" warning for the North Columbia River region.
