A new timepiece has been set up in Vancouver to count down to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The countdown clock outside of BC Place in Terry Fox Plaza is ticking down the days, hours, minutes, and seconds until June 11, 2026, when the World Cup will start.
The first games will be in Mexico.
The first men's World Cup game to come to Canada will be on June 12, 2026 when Team Canada takes to the pitch at BMO Field in Toronto.
Vancouver's first game, on June 18, 2026, will also feature Team Canada at BC Place. Team Canada will play a second match in Vancouver on June 24, 2026.
Seven matches were announced for Vancouver, including a round of 16 game to be played on July 17, 2026.
Countdown clocks were set up at FIFA World Cup host cities across North America to highlight the one-year mark before the tournament, co-hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
