Richmond RCMP found loaded guns, drugs and money in a local hotel on Wednesday morning.

Police officers received a call around 8:45 a.m. on April 24 of a man allegedly having firearms in a hotel near St. Edwards Drive and Bridgeport Road.

The man was arrested shortly after 12 p.m. by RCMP and the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team.

Four assault-style rifles (one loaded), a loaded handgun, more than $2,000 cash and about 800 grams of alleged illicit drugs were seized during the search of the room by the Richmond RCMP's investigation team.

The man was released on a police undertaking with conditions and pending charges as the investigation remains active and ongoing.

Richmond RCMP said there is "no known nexus" to the B.C. gang conflict at this time.

"The professionalism and coordination displayed by our officers and the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team played a crucial role in neutralizing a high-risk situation," said Insp. Mike Roberts, operations officer with the Richmond RCMP.

"The initial response coordinated by our frontline officers directly contributed to the successful outcome."
