After seizing a ‘suspicious’ vehicle Wednesday morning (Jan. 15), more clues led Prince George RCMP to the arrest of four suspects as part of an ongoing investigation into the shooting of a local man from what was deemed as a targeted attack this week.

Three men and one woman were taken into custody yesterday afternoon at a College Heights home and later released pending charge approval after they were found in possession of several firearms, ammunition and a large quantity of drugs.

However, Mounties believe neither the suspects, ranging in age from 19 to 22 years old and all from Prince George, or the firearms are believed to be involved with Tuesday night’s (Jan. 14) shooting in on Wiggins Place near Moss Avenue in the South Fort George area.

The arrest is part of the attempted murder investigation which sent a 28-year-old local man to hospital as police believe the incident was targeted and directly related to the drug trade.

While in College Heights, officers found a handgun on the kitchen counter of the Parkview Crescent home, which then led to a search and seizure of other items that included:

  • A second hand gun
  • SKS rifle
  • A second rifle with a suppressor
  • Ammunition
  • Body armour
  • ‘Significant amount’ of cash
  • Drugs like meth, cocaine and cannabis

Earlier that morning, officers were tipped off about a handgun found in a snowbank near the shooting scene in South Fort George as they conducted neighbourhood inquiries by a member of the public and a report of a suspicious vehicle on Upland Street.

When they found Chevrolet SUV, it has broken windows and what appeared to be several bullet holes among the damage.

Both the gun and vehicle were seized as evidence in the investigation.

RCMP believe the public is not at risk and this case is a priority for the local detachment.
