A fundraiser has been launched for the family of a Metro Vancouver woman who was killed at her residence in Australia.

Tatiana Dokhotaru, 34, was found dead in her home in Sydney, Australia on May 27. She called police the night before, reporting that someone was assaulting her before the call went offline, according to ABC Australia.

When officers went inside the apartment building, they were unable to determine what unit the call came from and left; her body was discovered the following day.

Dokhotaru's estranged partner, Danny Zayat, has multiple, previous domestic violence offences and was also discovered at her apartment following her death. He has been taken into custody but no charges have been laid, according to 7news.

Dokhotaru is originally from Surrey, B.C. and her family wants to bring her body back to Canada after they go to Australia.

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched by Annabella Green of New South Wales, Australia to help raise funds to transport her body home and to pay for the cost of the funeral. The money will also help pay for her family's return trip to Australia.

Part of the money will also be saved as a "small nest egg" for Dokhotaru's young son.

"Tatiana left us too soon. Her little boy is forever without a mother. Help us to ease the burden on this unfortunate family," wrote Green.

"Please join us as we band together to support this injustice. If you cannot donate, please pray and share as has been requested by her Mother: 'Pray for us Australia."

As of this writing, the campaign has raised $18,008 AUD of its $200,000 AUD goal.
