A snowy weekend is in the forecast.

We had a test run on Wednesday, just in time for more of the white stuff to come this weekend.

Snowfall of 10 to 20 cm (and 30 cm on higher terrain) is in the forecast for this weekend, with heavy snow expected for Saturday night.

A special weather statement about the incoming snow for Metro Vancouver, including Richmond, was issued by Environment Canada on Thursday afternoon.

Widespread snow will be brought to the region by "a significant weather system," according to the statement.

"Periods of light snow will start on Saturday and intensify to heavy snow Saturday night. Heavy snow is expected to ease Sunday morning for most regions."

The exact amount of snowfall is uncertain as of now, but Environment Canada is warning of "challenging" travel conditions from Saturday night to Sunday.

"Warnings will be issued as the event draws closer," reads the statement.
