If you love sunshine, this week's Vancouver weather forecast might not appeal to you.

Environment Canada calls for plenty of wet weather this week in the city, so don't plan on hitting the beach to celebrate the start of spring--unless you like to get wet, of course.

Starting on Wednesday, March 17, the forecast calls for mainly cloudy skies and a high of 12°C and an overnight low of 4°C. The rain is expected to commence Thursday, with the forecast calling for periods of the wet stuff during the day and a 60 per cent chance of showers overnight. On Friday, the forecast calls for a 60 per cent chance of showers all day that will carry through Saturday, too.

Sunday's forecast also calls for rain, while Monday is expected to see periods of rain during the day and a 60 per cent chance of showers overnight. Tuesday's forecast also calls for periods of rain.

Are you ready for winter to be over?

Bobby Sekhon, a meteorologist for Environment Canada, told Vancouver Is Awesome in a previous interview that the region is trending toward generally warmer weather as the season progresses. In other words, the extreme cold Vancouverites experienced last month isn't likely to return.

"The seasonal model is indicating that there is a chance for near-normal temperatures in Metro Vancouver this year," he says. However, he adds that this year's spring forecast isn't looking very "conclusive."

What does this mean?

"April and May seem to be the most uncertain. The second half of March could see below-average temperatures, but I don't think we're going to be looking at any deep cold air."

Sekhon says there won't likely be any deep cold air this month, but it could get a bit cooler. However, the spring season isn't looking significantly colder overall.
