Vancouver has the most expensive rent for one and two-bedroom apartments in Canada...again.

B.C.'s largest city has claimed the top spot as the country's most pricey place to rent in August 2021, according to the latest Canadian National Rent Report from Zumper.

Report authors analyzed hundreds of thousands of July listings to examine median rent prices across the 24 largest cities in the country. They note that eight Canadian cities saw an upward trend this month over last, while ten of them trended downward; six markets remained flat.

While Vancouver continues to see the most expensive rent in Canada, one-bedroom rentals stayed flat at $2,000. Two-bedroom apartments increased 2.1 per cent to $2,860.

Toronto has the country's second-highest rent, with one-bedroom rentals climbing nearly five per cent (4.7%) to $1,790. Rent for two-bedroom apartments also increased, climbing 2.3 per cent to $2,250.

Another B.C. city, Burnaby, saw one-bedroom rent increase just over one per cent (1.1%) to $1,770 in July. The city's two-bedroom rentals grew nearly four per cent (3.9%) to $2,370.

B.C.'s capital city is the fourth most expensive place to rent in Canada, with one and two-bedroom apartments in Victoria costing $1,660 and $2,020, respectively.
