Longing for come cool, wet weather?
Metro Vancouverites woke up to decidedly hazy skies and sweltering humidity on Friday (Aug. 13) that are expected to continue into the weekend. However, there's a chance the region will see showers to round out the weekend.
An Air Quality Advisory for Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley Friday issued Friday morning states that high concentrations of fine particulate matter are expected over the next few days.
Smoke concentrations may vary widely across the region as winds and temperatures change, and as wildfire behaviour changes.
In addition to "widespread smoke," Environment Canada calls for a soaring 28°C high on the coast with a high of 32°C inland. With humidity, these temperatures will feel more like 34°C and 38°C respectively.
Saturday's forecast calls for "widespread smoke becoming local smoke" in the morning with a daytime high of 28°C on the coast with a high of 32°C inland. Saturday will feel hotter than Friday with humidity, however. Temperatures will feel more like 36°C and 39°C, respectively.
The forecast notes that little relief is expected at night on Friday and Saturday with elevated overnight temperatures.
Sunday is expected to see some respite from the heat as a "front will usher in showers and cooler temperatures."
Monday's forecast also includes the chance for showers during the day.
Metro Vancouver Weather Forecast

Environment Canada warns that dry, warm weather may continue through the rest of summer and into the early fall, too.
Canada's national weather forecaster will release the official fall forecast on Sept.1, the first day of meteorological fall. However, Environment Canada Meteorologist Armel Castellan says there are early indications that the toasty weather may continue into the coming season.
