A crowd of protesters gathered in downtown Vancouver today (Oct. 22) to show solidarity with protesters in Iran, where a movement sparked by the death of a woman in the custody of morality police has evolved into a challenge to the Islamic Republic.

Previous protests organized by Vancouver's Persian community had taken place on Sept. 19 and Sept. 25 at the Vancouver Art Gallery and on Sept. 21 in front of the U.S. Embassy downtown where protesters were seen chopping off their hair.

Protesters gathered at the Vancouver Art Gallery at 3 p.m.

The crowd then proceeded to march through downtown.
