Everyone forgets their keys, cash, or their phone in the car at some point, but which Vancouverite left a Christmas tree on an Evo?
Or a collection of rubber ducks? How about champagne? Not a bottle, but two cases. Which one of you did that?
Evo would like to know; they're aiming to return lost goods left in their cars to their rightful owners. They've got a room in their warehouse full of stuff.
It's surprising which items people call for right away, says Evo's Dave Wharf, compared to things, like a cement mixer or a Fender bass guitar, that hang around the company's "Lost in Evo Room."
“We get that someone may not care about losing a pair of old mittens or used boots, but valid passports and expensive bikes sometimes go unclaimed – it’s a study of human behaviour,” he says in a press release.
While items unclaimed can be important, they can also be odd, like a suitcase of firewood, or a glowing genie head that's been held by the team for years.
Normally once a lost item makes its way to the Lost room staff will wait for a call. If no one claims an item after a couple of days they'll investigate and see if they can figure out who belongs to the item.
"If the rightful owners can’t be found, items get donated to a worthy cause. For example, the DJ equipment went to a Vancouver high school," states Evo in the release.
If you lost something in an Evo and don't want it donated to a school, you can reach the Evo team three ways:
