Firefighters douse kitchen fire, 'heavy smoke' in Vancouver home

The fire caused traffic delays.

Firefighters were called to a kitchen fire in a residential home on East 41st Avenue in Vancouver.

An afternoon fire caused traffic delays Thursday afternoon (May 11). 

Vancouver Fire Rescue Services (VFRS) crews were called to a kitchen fire in a residential home on 1374 E 41st Ave at 4:45 p.m.

"First on scene crews found heavy smoke coming out of the back of the house," VFRS Asst. Chief Brad Hesse tells V.I.A. "The fire was contained to the kitchen area and ceiling."

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is undetermined. 

The blaze did impact traffic for some time.
