Summer sunsets will still be happening in Vancouver this week.

Summer weather isn't quite gone yet as Vancouver heads into September.

While average highs for Vancouver usually dip below 20 C this time of year, early September 2022 looks to be dodging that trend and sticking to the low 20s a little longer.

Environment Canada says the Sunday showers should clear away in the afternoon, with a 30 per cent chance of precipitation in the late afternoon keeping the daily high around 19 C. Some wind throughout the day will bring a bit of chill to the air as well, with gusts up to 40 km/h.

However, that'll slow down overnight and Monday morning, Sept. 5, should see a mix of sun and cloud with a high back up to 21 C as the clouds clear away later in the day. Monday night will be cool, with a low of 11 C, one of the lowest temperatures Vancouver's experienced over the last couple of months.

The sun will return Tuesday and Wednesday, though, and even though it won't be at it's peak summer power, temperatures should still reach a peak of 23 C. Overnight lows, though, will remain mostly around 12 C.

Some cloud is expected over the city again on Thursday, and while that might keep things a little cooler (with a high of only 20 C) Environment Canada expects that to just be a short dip, with Friday and Saturday again seeing highs around 23 C despite some cloud cover.

Overall Environment Canada is expecting an above-average fall, temperature-wise, with highs remaining above average in the early part of the season due to high sea surface temperatures.
