Vancouver Police responded to a rather bizarre call in Oppenheimer Park Friday afternoon.

“Every call in policing is different, and this is a call responding officers will never forget,” says Constable Tania Visintin, VPD. “It was shocking for officers to find the snake, but the number of weapons they discovered is also very concerning.”

Police arrived in the park at around 12:30 p.m. The suspects in the fight had dispersed. Officers were directed to a tent by witnesses, where they initially found the snake and some weapons in plain-view.

As the investigation progressed, officers found additional weapons. The following items were seized by police:

  • two wooden clubs with nails
  • one baseball bat

Animal Services from the City of Vancouver responded to seize the snake.
