Many Gastown businesses remain closed following yesterday's fire (April 11) for the safety of staff, due to poor air quality, or having no access to parts of the business building.

Vancouver has come together to offer relief to those displaced by the fire, including a fundraiser

"As a community we will come together to repair, rebuild and restore," writes Gastown's official Instagram account in a recent post. Meanwhile, businesses have also taken to social media, but to share news of temporary closures.

"Though we've only been a part of the Gastown community for a few weeks, we've experienced the love, warmth, and connection that the many members share with one another," Greta Bar shared in an Instagram post.

Jules Bistro has also shut its doors.

"Due to the fire across the street yesterday, we currently don't have access back to the restaurant. We will be closed today and keep you updated. Sending out love to our neighbours that were affected," they wrote on Instagram.

Meanwhile, The Flying Pig has extended a thank you to Vancouver's firefighters.

"We continue to take direction from the Vancouver Fire Department and will update our valued community as we learn more," the restaurant writes on Instagram. "A special thank you to the Fire and Rescue Teams for working relentlessly to help bring this under control."

Some businesses, however, may be closing their doors for good.

"We are sorry to say, we will be closing until further notice or permanently due to fire," shares Gowon Cafe on Instagram. "Thank you for all the care!"
