'I was shaking and crying!': Metro Vancouver man wins $1 million from Lotto Max

The Surrey resident plans to take his wife on a vacation to the Philippines to visit family.

A Metro Vancouver man was brought to tears after discovering that he'd won a million bucks from the Lotto Max draw.

On Oct. 18, Jayson Madarang was preparing for a typical workday when he learned he won a $1-million Maxmillions prize from the Lotto Max draw.

“I was at home and I scanned the ticket, then boom - I was shaking and crying, but then everything had to be normal as I had to go to work,” he recalled.

The Surrey resident plans to take his wife on a vacation to the Philippines to visit family and added that he is "very thankful, happy and excited" about the big win.

"This will change my life in certain ways.” 

The winning ticket was purchased at Petro Canada on Victoria Drive in Vancouver.

So far in 2022, B.C. lottery players have redeemed more than $159 million from Lotto Max. The national lottery game is drawn on Tuesdays and Fridays.
