Metro Vancouver police seek witnesses after targeted shooting

Police are now seeking witnesses it what they say was a targeted shooting.

Police have confirmed a 19-year-old man was shot last night in the Guildford area of Surrey.

Mounties are looking for witnesses as part of the investigation into the shooting, which occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Flamingo Place. After receiving reports of shots fired in the area police received another call saying a man had been shot.

After he'd been shot, police say the victim fled the scene.

"Police were able to locate the man, who was suffering from non-life-threatening injuries at an alternate location in Newton," the RCMP state in a press release. "The 19-year old victim was transported to hospital."

Police are now seeking witnesses it what they say was a targeted shooting.

"Surrey RCMP General Investigations Unit has assumed conduct of the investigation,” says Corp. Vanessa Munn. “Although the investigation is in the early stages, evidence indicates that this was a targeted shooting between parties known to each other.”
