In memory of a missing mother whose body was found in Stanley Park on Saturday more than $95,000 in donations have poured into an online fundraiser.

Yu Ting Ji was passionate and loving according to her son, Alger Liang, who utilized social media networks to organize a search to help locate his mother, who went missing Nov. 9

On behalf of himself and his father, the son thanked people in the Vancouver community who took part in the week-long search for Yu.

“My Dad and I are deeply touched by your love and support,” said Liang.

In the past year, Yu had struggled with her mental health, he added. His dad had taken eight months off of work to care for her.

A GoFundMe for Yu’s Memorial and Legacy Fund surpassed its initial goal of $20,000, with nearly 3,000 people donating to help the father and son cover the cost of Ting’s funeral and an ongoing high school scholarship at Killarney Secondary School.

As of Tuesday morning, the account had well surpassed $95,000. Along with the funds, condolences poured in online for the family.

“The best gift you can give my mom and my family is to live your life to the fullest,” Liang told the public on an Instagram account once dedicated to finding his mother.

“Please call your Mom, and anybody close to you. Just to check-in,” the son said.
