Nearly 100 businesses, non-profits nominated for 2021 Tri-Cities Chamber awards

Nearly 30 are up for business of the year; the finalists for each category will be unveiled in late November.

After making its public call — which included a deadline extension — the Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce (TCCC) received several submissions for the 2021 business excellence awards.

Since Oct. 15, that list has been cut down to 94 businesses and non-profits across nine categories, including 29 for business of the year's three sub-categories.

The event is set to honour large, medium and small businesses in Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and Port Moody who've gone above and beyond — all while during the global COVID-19 pandemic.

The TCCC explains a panel of judges is now set to reduce each list to up to five finalists, which will be formally announced in late November after examining each nomination form.

Each finalist will be informed and will be asked to complete a secondary submission package, the TCCC says.

"Once the packages have been completed and received, the second round of judging will commence with another independent panel of judges. Online voting will also be opened to the general public at this time."

Mary Hill Fit Body Boot Camp (Port Coquitlam) and Tri-Cities United are tied for the most nominations with four each.

A formal awards banquet is being tentatively set for Jan. 29, 2022.
