A video shows fireworks going off in a condo in Vancouver's Yaletown neighbourhood.

A frightening moment in a home in Yaletown New Year's eve was caught on video.

In the video shared on Reddit, fireworks can be seen going off inside a condo near George Waiborn Park on Beach Crescent in Vancouver.

"Oh my god!" exclaim people in the video, who appear to be watching from another condo on the other side of the park.

"It's in the house!" shouts one man.

Several explosions can be seen in the house, with sparks flying out over the deck.

"I’m almost certain it was accidental. They were shooting them off of their balcony initially," writes the person who shot the video, who goes by the username qnqp.

They note emergency vehicles showed up a few minutes later, shortly after midnight.

Vancouver Fire Rescue Services (VRFS) confirm they were called to the scene, but when they arrived there was no fire. The Vancouver Police Department also attended.

"Our role was limited to assisting VRFS in safely making contact with people inside the apartment. We don’t believe anyone was injured and we have not received reports of property damage," states the VPD in an email to Vancouver Is Awesome, noting the VPD has not issued any fines in the case.

Aside from professionally set up events that have been approved by the city, fireworks are illegal in Vancouver.

"The incident is very concerning as no fireworks should be operated inside a unit or anywhere in Vancouver," writes VFRS Capt. Matthew Trudeau in an email to V.I.A.
