With your help we've raised $2,770 for deaf children and the food bank

Thank you!

As of yesterday, we've now raised a total of $2,770 for the Deaf Children's Society of B.C. and the Greater Vancouver Food Bank ($1,385 each) from the sales of our Listen to Nigel posters (1 for $15, 3 for $30, 10 for $50 or 25 for $100).

Designed by our editorial cartoonist, Geoff Coates, they were produced with the blessing of Nigel Howard, who you likely recognize as Dr. Bonnie Henry's expressive sign language interpreter.

Nigel wanted partial proceeds to go to help deaf children and Geoff wanted his royalties to go to the food bank. What remains will be put back into our operation to help us stay afloat and continue to bring you this free source of news day in and day out.

We received an overwhelming response, with hundreds of orders coming in over two weeks. Orders came in from all over British Columbia — from Saanichton to Prince George — and we were surprised to see quite a few orders from Quebec and Ontario, as well as a few from people in the U.S.A.

Nigel's message knows no borders apparently, and we're thrilled to be able to raise awareness as well as funds

If you haven't yet bought one the posters are still available, and we also launched a T-shirt with the design on it which you can buy below.

Partial proceeds from both of these will also go to the good causes mentioned above.
